Syrah 2016

Tasting Notes

Full-bodied, dry wine, with aromas of wild blackberry, clove, and vanilla oak are followed by flavors of plum, and roasted coffee beans.

Vineyard Designation

Syrah – Washington State, Petite Sirah Lodi, California

Vineyard Notes

Syrah was grown in the Horse Heaven Hills and Columbia Valley areas in Washington State. The Petite Sirah was grown in Lodi California at S&L Vineyards.

Winemaker Notes

This Syrah was grown in the “Horse Heaven Hills” AVA of the Columbia Valley in Washington. Fun fact: Cowboy James Kinney named that area in 1857 after discovering his herd of horses eating the native grasses on the hillside - proclaiming it "Horse Heaven". The Petite Sirah was grown in Lodi, California at S&L Vineyards. The climate is a Mediterranean type climate with cool nights and hot days. The soils are similar to the French region Chateauneuf du Pape.

Pairs well with beef stew, grilled lamb chops, smoked bratwurst and black olives. Also dishes with lots of pepper and pungent herbs.
